We are always looking for a range of enthusiastic, motivated & confident individuals to join our team either as a permanent member of staff or as a volunteer who can lend a helping hand for a few hours each week.
Digital Development & Inclusion Officer
Are you energetic, motivated and passionate about enabling and supporting Carers?
As part of our response to the national emergency around COVID-19, we have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Development & Inclusion Officer to join our team.
We are looking for a confident, creative and proactive individual, with the right skills and experience, to help us to stay connected and keep supporting Carers living in Southend-on-Sea.
- Hours: 18½ hours each week
- Contract: Fixed-term. 6 month contract
- Salary: £26,000 pro rata per annum/FTE
- Work location: Working from home/Southend Carers Office
In response to Covid pandemic, the “Carers’ Crisis Development Initiative” will create new ways to deliver our carer support programmes remotely and integrate them with our regular methods as the crisis eases and ‘lockdown’ ends.
This innovative project will also create digitally inclusive support framework for all Carers living in Southend-on-Sea and beyond.

Southend Carers offers Placements for Counselling Students
We provide a placement opportunity for local students to be able to obtain their counselling hours towards their qualification. Whilst in placement here the students gain beneficial insights into therapeutic work and valuable work experience required by their respective local colleges with whom we have a good working relationship. We provide an in house mentoring service with a qualified counsellor and mentor in order to enhance the students support service.

Southend Carers has provided a range of support services for Carers in Southend-on-Sea for almost 20 years. We are also Lead Partner for the Southend Carers Consortium – a new partnership of several local charities, who have joined together to support the Carers of Southend Borough through the provision of a one-stop-shop support service approach.Our main aims are to ensure that Carers of all ages (5-105 years) in Southend on Sea are:
- able to live healthy lives as regards their mental and physical well-being
- able to alleviate the social isolation that many feel due to their caring role and responsibilities
- provided with the latest accurate advice, support & information relating to their needs and the lives of their dependants
We are looking for a range of enthusiastic & confident volunteers, with a few hours spare each week, to lend a helping hand to support this fabulous local carers charity!
