Southend Carers Newsletter Out Now

Winter 2011/2012 Carers Newsletter published

The winter edition of the Southend Carers Newsletter has been published by Southend Borough Council in partnership with Southend Carers Forum. The Newsletter includes lots of information for carers in the area from the council and a variety of support organisations, including information on the older peoples assembly, young carers, local carers services and staying safe.

The newsletter will be available from many places, but you can always read it online or download it to your computer here.

Young Carers relaunched as Cool Caring at Southend Carers Forum

Our help and activities for young carers in the area are now bigger and brighter and has a section of the website all to itself. Click on the image above to see what we are doing and how to register with us.

Well Done Gemma!

Gemma Vanlooy-Walker is 8 years old and registered with us as one of our young carers. When her local church were holding a fete Gemma asked them if she could have a stall to raise money for Southend Young Carers - they in turn wavered the fee and let her have the table free of charge. She raised a wonderful £31.70.

Xmas Thanks!

Southend Carers Forum thanks everyone who took part in our events over the Christmas period.

Cockney Knees Up

Our Christmas celebration on the 8th December was a great success, enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the volunteers who came along to help and everyone for taking part. See the photos on our facebook page.

Christmas Carols

Thanks to all who came to sing in the cold in the high street on the 11th December and all the Christmas shoppers who gave so generously.

Christmas Cake Stand

Thanks to all who visited our stand at the Civic Centre on the 9th December and bought our yummy cakes.

AGM & Carers Rights Day a great Success.

Our AGM was held on the 2nd December to coincide with Carers Right Day. It was an informative and fun day and a showed a bright future for Southend Carers Forum.
